Adult Faith Formation
“Catechesis for adults, since it deals with persons who are capable of an adherence that is fully responsible, must be considered the chief form of catechesis. All the other forms, which are indeed always necessary, are in some way oriented to it.” (General Directory for Catechesis, 59)
“[Jesus] then came down with them and stood on a spot of level ground, where there was a large crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all sections of Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon. They had come there to listen to him….” (Luke 6:17–18a)
Because the catechetical mission of the Church seeks the doctrinal, moral, and spiritual growth of Catholics of all ages, Holy Spirit Parish provides a variety of opportunities that embrace the faith dimensions of adult life. These include OCIA formation for adults seeking to join the Church, parish Scripture studies, small groups for faith sharing, annual missions, and video-based learning experiences.
Adults are also encouraged to enrich their formation through trusted Catholic resources beyond the parish. Examples include the Catholic History Trek podcast for exploring the story of the Church, Catholic Answers Focus for in-depth apologetics and theology, and the Institute of Catholic Culture for free lectures and courses on Catholic tradition.
