____________________

The Latin word sacramentum means “a sign of the sacred.” The seven sacraments are celebrations that point us to what is holy, meaningful, and essential in the life of a Christian. They are privileged moments for encountering God’s saving presence. This is why theologians describe the sacraments as both signs and instruments of God’s grace.
