What should I wear?
We want you to feel comfortable when you join us. After all, we’re delighted to have you here, and it’s far more important to focus on the service than on what you’re wearing. In the summer, you’ll often see people in sandals, shorts, and a casual shirt, while others prefer their “Sunday best”—and both are perfectly welcome. We simply ask that shorts be of a modest length (no “short-shorts”) and that clothing in general be respectful and conservative.
How do I get to Holy Spirit Parish?
Our parish is located at 410 Lear Rd. Avon Lake, OH 44012. Here is a map.
Where should I park?
We’re happy to share that our parish has ample on-site parking, making it easy and convenient for you to join us for Mass and parish events.
I’m not Catholic, how do I know when to sit, stand, and kneel?
There’s no need to feel self-conscious about the postures and responses during Mass—most visitors simply follow the lead of our parishioners.
I’m not Catholic, is it okay for me to participate in communion?
For Catholics, the Eucharist is the most sacred and intimate expression of our faith. We believe that the host is truly the Body of Christ, consecrated during the Mass. Because of the deep reverence we hold for this sacrament, we invite only practicing Catholics to receive Holy Communion. We are so glad you are with us and hope you feel welcomed in prayer and fellowship. If sharing in the Eucharist feels important to you, we warmly invite you to explore becoming Catholic and joining us fully in this sacrament.
Am I expected to put money into the offering?
If you’re visiting with us, please don’t feel any obligation to contribute to the offering—you’re welcome to simply let it pass by. If you consider our parish your spiritual home, we invite you to prayerfully consider supporting the parish on a regular basis. Contributions may be made by cash or check during Mass, or you can sign up for convenient online giving here.
