Building Feedback

This message is from Father Strebler's Pastor's Column from Sunday 11/19/23.

We have had a meeting with Bishop Woost on Built of Living Stones.  We have met to discuss whom we are as a parish, from where we have come, and to where we would like to go. We now come to the next step in the Holy Spirit Church renovation project.  We need to hear from you, the parishioners.    This is the most important step.   The Buildings/Renovation Committee is seeking your input.

The question before you is:  What things would you see as being a part of the renovation project for the church?   The Committee asks that you look around the church building: narthex, sacristy, sanctuary, and seating areas and tell us what you think should be included in the renovation.  This can include infrastructure, technology, and more.   While this is the time to dream, the reality is that this work doesn’t come without a price tag.  That is the tension to remember in giving your opinion: what do you want and what are you and your fellow parishioners willing to give toward and invest in this project?

We ask that you submit your input in this way:

  • Include your name; anonymous comments will not be considered; this will allow us to get back to you if clarification is needed.
  • Include if you have read Built of Living Stones (copies are available in the parish library) and/or attended the talk by Bishop Woost on September 26, 2023.
  • Tells us what you would like to see as part of the renovation.
    • Categorize each of your suggestions for the renovation. In your opinion, is it a:
      • Must have (M ): this is essential for the renovation and must be included in it and should be given priority in the planning process
      • Nice to have : (N): This would be a good thing, but would be something that could be cut to save expenses
      • Dream (D): If money were no object, I’d like to see this included in the renovation

Please submit this to the Committee by December 17, 2023 .  You can mail it to the office, drop it off at the office during business hours, drop it in the black mailbox on the office porch, throw it in the collection basket, or email it to Buildings@hspal.org.
